Spanish Kfund raises €70M for AI and cloud startups

Kfund, a prominent venture capital firm based in Spain, has secured €70 million for its sixth fund, aimed at bolstering innovative projects across southern Europe. The funding will focus on transformative technologies such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, edge computing, 5G connectivity, blockchain, and cloud services.

The new fund, known as K3, builds upon the successes of its predecessors, K1 and K2, which have supported notable entrepreneurs like Jordi, Bernat, and Pau from Factorial; Diego and Eduardo from Urbanitae; Pere and Jesús from Exoticca; Pablo and Álvaro from Barkibu; and Julio and Jorge from Abacum, among others. K3 aims to continue this legacy by nurturing ventures that not only drive substantial business growth but also make a meaningful social impact.

Iñaki Arrola, General Partner at Kfund, highlighted the fund’s role in supporting aspiring entrepreneurs: “Launching this fund allows us to deepen our commitment to the journey we began in 2016. Our mission remains unchanged: to provide the support we wish we had received when starting our ventures. The overwhelming market response to our fund reflects the trust placed in us by Spain’s top entrepreneurs over the past eight years.”

Kfund remains dedicated to its core verticals—Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Edge Computing, 5G Connectivity, Blockchain, and Cloud Services—which have been pivotal in shaping its investment strategy. The firm sees immense potential in southern Europe’s tech ecosystem, where it concentrates nearly all of its investments. By fostering local talent and understanding their growth challenges intimately, Kfund aims to catalyze job creation and generate wealth within the region.

Having co-invested with prestigious global funds like Creandum, Atomico, a16z, Goldman Sachs, Softbank, CRV, and Bitkraft, Kfund underscores the synergy between disruptive technologies and traditionally conservative sectors. The launch of K3 further underscores the belief in unlocking efficiencies and new opportunities through enhanced human-machine collaboration.

K3 marks a milestone in Kfund’s journey, expanding its reach from pre-seed to Series A stages, thereby supporting entrepreneurs in establishing impactful companies that will define the future of business in southern Europe.
