WatchGuard launches AI-driven ThreatSync+ NDR & compliance tools

WatchGuard Technologies has unveiled new additions to its security offerings, introducing the ThreatSync+ NDR and WatchGuard Compliance Reporting. These products are designed to support businesses with smaller IT teams or limited cybersecurity resources by providing automated, continuous threat monitoring, detection, and remediation using advanced AI technologies.

The ThreatSync+ NDR utilizes a sophisticated AI engine, developed from WatchGuard’s recent acquisition of CyGlass in 2023. This engine employs a dual-layered neural network to analyze and prioritize threats, presenting them as risk-scored incidents on an intuitive dashboard. This feature enables managed service providers (MSPs) and IT security professionals to concentrate on the most critical threats, review mitigation strategies, and bolster organizational security.

Don Gulling, founder and CEO of Verteks Consulting, praised the accessibility of the new tool, stating, “WatchGuard ThreatSync+ NDR provides an additional layer of advanced protection that was previously challenging due to complexity and high costs. With WatchGuard’s cloud-based architecture, we can deploy ThreatSync+ NDR quickly, easily, and cost-effectively for our clients.”

ThreatSync+ NDR is designed to detect attacks that have evaded perimeter defenses, such as ransomware, vulnerability exploits, and supply chain attacks, by analyzing network traffic. The system can identify various attack stages, including command and control communications, lateral movements within the network, and data exfiltration.

This solution promises rapid deployment and minimal complexity, operating within the WatchGuard Cloud and compatible with WatchGuard Firebox firewalls without requiring additional on-premises hardware. Its design reduces the burden on IT teams by automating security tasks and providing straightforward dashboards and reporting tools.

Ben Oster, vice president of product management at WatchGuard Technologies, emphasized the strategic value of the launch: “The release of ThreatSync+ NDR exemplifies our continued commitment to enhance our partners’ abilities to protect customers and grow their services. ThreatSync+ NDR simplifies the integration of cutting-edge cybersecurity technologies for businesses of all sizes, enabling MSPs to stay ahead of the evolving threat landscape and generate new service revenue.”

Accompanying ThreatSync+ NDR, WatchGuard Compliance Reporting offers a user-friendly platform for creating compliance reports, utilizing network controls enabled by ThreatSync+ NDR. This tool aligns with standards from entities like NIST, ISO, and CISA and supports automated and manual reporting for various regulations, including FFIEC, NIST-171, CMMC, and GDPR.

The introduction of ThreatSync+ NDR expands WatchGuard’s XDR (Extended Detection and Response) strategy, centralizing their offerings for a unified security platform. This architecture allows for a comprehensive response to cyber threats, enabling customers to tailor their XDR approach by integrating various ThreatSync+ products.

WatchGuard Technologies continues to focus on providing businesses of all sizes with advanced cybersecurity solutions that simplify threat management and enhance compliance capabilities.
