The Pokémon Company has announced that Pokémon Champions is now available to download for free on mobile devices, bringing quick-start, turn-based Pokémon battles straight to players wherever they are.
Designed around strategic Pokémon battles, Pokémon Champions offers a simple interface and built-in tutorial that enable players to quickly build their Pokémon teams, develop battle strategies, challenge friends, and even compete on ranked ladders.
Unlike traditional Pokémon titles focused on exploration or story progression, Pokémon Champions is built purely around battling. Even new players can learn on-the-go about Pokémon, their moves, and their effectiveness in battle with the help of on-screen guidance. The availability of Ranked Battles, Casual Battles, and Private Battles allows both experienced Trainers and newcomers to enjoy the game at their own pace.
The turn-based nature of the game lets players take their time to think and strategize.
Players can download the app and start playing free of cost, with only optional in-game purchase, which makes the game truly accessible to anyone who wants to enjoy a quick game in their free time.
Susumu Fukunaga, Corporate Officer, The Pokémon Company said, “Pokémon has always been about connecting Trainers through shared experiences, and battles are one of the core attractions. With the launch of Pokémon Champions on mobile, we are excited to make Pokémon battles more accessible than ever. In India, we hope it will serve as a gateway to new adventures for players as they strategize and compete with each other with their favourite Pokémon on their side. “
The launch marks a significant milestone for India’s growing Pokémon community. With mobile gaming continuing to dominate the country’s gaming landscape, Pokémon Champions provides players across India with an accessible, ready-to-start entry point into exciting Pokémon battles.
Launch Celebration
To celebrate the mobile launch, players can log in to claim special in-game gifts, including Pokémon such as Raichu, Raichunite X, and Raichunite Y. These gifts are available through the in-game mailbox from Wednesday, 17 June 2026 to Wednesday, 2 September 2026.
The launch celebration also introduces Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y to Pokémon Champions. Mega Raichu X comes with the Electric Surge Ability, which creates Electric Terrain and opens up new Electric-type strategies. Mega Raichu Y features the No Guard Ability, giving players a more aggressive option built around fully accurate moves.
