Nazara Publishing’s FAU-G: Domination receives overwhelming support at IGDC 2024; playtest data highlights positive momentum

The playtest for Fearless and United Guards (FAU-G): Domination, Nazara Publishing’s upcoming military shooter, drew in close to 1,000 attendees, making it a crowd favourite at the Indian Game Developer Conference (IGDC) 2024 in Hyderabad, held between November 13 and 15.

The made-in-India mobile game, developed by Mumbai-based Dot9 Games, was swarmed with long lines and crowds throughout the event, eager to experience the latest entry in the FAU-G universe, whose past games have garnered over 40 million downloads.

The playtest provided valuable insights, crucial for shaping the game’s development such as:

  • Gameplay performance: Around 80 percent of all players felt the gameplay was smooth, calling out its fluid performance even on mid and low-end devices.
  • Popular game modes: Close to 70 percent of players preferred the Arms Race mode over other modes such as Team Deathmatch and 1v1.
  • Gunplay feedback: Around 70 percent rated the gunplay as ‘good’ to ‘excellent,’ reflecting strong reception from an audience of industry professionals and creators.
  • Improvement areas: Nearly 10 percent felt there were hit box registration issues indicating that the team has some fine-tuning to do ahead of launch. Roughly 8 percent felt there were technical issues in terms of smoothness and overheating.

With a release slated for early 2025, the development team at Dot9 Studios plans a few more community-driven playtests, to ensure there is transparency and meaningful improvements made hand-in-hand with the community.

Given that the Indian shooter market has about 500 million players, playtests like these prior to launch are necessary to ensure made-in-India games like FAU-G: Domination stand a fighting chance in an increasingly competitive landscape.

Pre-registrations for FAU-G: Domination are now live on the Google Play Store for Android with pre-registrations on the App Store for iOS and iPadOS to follow soon. Pre-registering now gets players the Beast Collection. The Beast Collection a limited edition set of in-game cosmetics inspired by the ferocity of the Tiger — India’s national animal.

These include six accessories: frame, banner, avatar, sticker, spray, and charm, as well as six gun skins: sawed-off shotgun, USP, Scout rifle, M4, Uzi, and Kabar. The Beast Collection will only be available for players that pre-register and will not be available after launch.
