$2 million seed round of funding allows gaming technology firm to significantly expand product suite and marketing efforts for 2024 NFL season
Locker Live Inc. (“Locker” or the “Company”), which brought the first Live Fantasy Games App to market in 2023, today announced the launch of its brand new ‘Leagues’ vertical, making it possible for anyone to create and host their own custom Locker League on Locker’s proprietary trivia-style daily fantasy sports (DFS) contest platform.
Fueled by the successful late-2023 debut of its first-of-its-kind live fantasy contests—whereby users accrue points for cash prizes by accurately predicting upcoming drives of NFL games via easy-to-follow game-based multiple-choice questions such as “Which player will have the most receiving yards on the next drive?” or “What will be the result of Chiefs’ next drive?”—Locker was able to raise a $2 million seed round of funding, led by Hatchery Investments, for the
development of its Leagues product.
With Leagues, commissioners can leverage Locker’s highly engaging and social NFL Contest Platform to tailor their specific Locker League down to the finest detail, from league buy-in amount to payout structure, scoring system, eligible games and everything else in between.
There’s a minimum of one Locker Contest running for each NFL game of the 2024 season, providing Locker League commissioners with an endless array of customization options to choose from when building out their individual leagues, all of which will be fully hosted and managed within Locker’s iOS and Android mobile apps. League managers also receive a commission as part of Locker’s unique incentive structure.
“The introduction of Leagues is not only a game-changer for Locker, it’s a legitimate needle- mover for the entire online gaming ecosystem,” said Locker co-founder and CEO Noah Bernstein. “Our technology has made it possible for literally anyone—from the commissioner of a small fantasy football league to a local bar owner to a micro-influencer or higher-profile creator with an existing audience to a leading sports media brand—to create and host their own customized Locker League on our app. In contrast to traditional fantasy football leagues, Locker Leagues aren’t dependent on preseason player drafts so a commissioner can theoretically start a Locker League at any point in the season. We couldn’t be more pumped to launch this product for the new NFL season.”
As part of the extended rollout of Leagues, Locker has partnered with a number of prominent brands across the fantasy sports media sphere—including, among others, RotoWire, FantasyPros, Ghetto Gronk, League Alerts and The 33rd Team—to help generate awareness and build excitement around this new and novel offering. Each formal media partner is hosting a co-branded and customized Locker League for the 2024 NFL season, all of which are easily discoverable on the homepage of Locker’s app and feature guaranteed minimum prize pools and dedicated social communities.
Locker’s media partners will also be producing regular bespoke content throughout their respective League campaigns aimed at engaging and energizing their individual communities while additionally serving as a pipeline of pertinent updates, info and contest strategy tips from some of fantasy football’s sharpest and most entertaining personalities. All told, Locker users will have hundreds of public and private Leagues to choose from throughout the NFL season.
“We created Locker to bring people together and build community around football,” said Bernstein. “We saw super high levels of engagement and stickiness with the first iteration of the contest product last year, which makes us confident the Leagues format is really going to resonate with new and returning users alike.”
