MoneyGram names Gary Ferrera as new CFO

US-based paytech MoneyGram has named Gary Ferrera as its new CFO, starting June 10, 2024.

Ferrera takes over from Larry Angelilli, who is retiring after nearly a year in the position. Reporting directly to MoneyGram chairman and CEO Alex Holmes, Ferrera will also join the company’s executive leadership team.

In his role, Ferrera is expected to oversee finance, accounting, tax, and treasury functions, supporting MoneyGram’s growth and digital transformation.

Before joining MoneyGram, Ferrera held CFO roles at various companies, including imagery solutions firm DigitalGlobe, ATM operator Cardtronics, and most recently, automotive services provider Driven Brands.

Founded in 1940 and based in Dallas, Texas, MoneyGram specializes in cross-border P2P payments and money transfers. The company serves over 50 million people in 200 countries and processes more than $200 billion annually.

Ferrera’s appointment is part of a series of recent leadership changes at MoneyGram, including the addition of Seth Ross as chief digital officer and Edwina Johnson as general manager in November.
