Co-Founder and CEO of PAYSTRAX, an innovative Financial Technology company which provides European merchants with state-of-the-art solutions for all their electronic transactions needs. Johannes has been disrupting stagnant payment markets since 2002, when he co-founded KORTA PAY (now RAPYD Europe), the first independent debit- and credit card acquirer in Iceland. With KORTA PAY, Johannes challenged a long-established duopoly by introducing new payment solutions and competitive price models. Under his leadership KORTA PAY was a breath of fresh air for the Icelandic payment solutions market. Despite having to deal with its competitors’ severe antitrust violations, KORTA PAY went on to gain a significant market share in Iceland and abroad, and in 2016 the company was ranked at no. 106 on the Inc. 5000 Europe list of the continents’ fastest growing companies. After Johannes left KORTA PAY in 2018, the President of Iceland presented him with the annual Management Award for Entrepreneurship of Stjornvisi, a non-profit organisation for management excellence in Iceland. Johannes went on to found PAYSTRAX, an international payment solutions company, with the intention of disrupting the European payment market with innovative FinTech solutions, highly competitive rates, and swift onboarding of merchants.
