
Claire Pinson-Bessonnet
Claire Pinson-Bessonnet was admitted to the Paris Bar in 2008 after studying law and political science in France and New Zealand. She practised as a lawyer for four years, focusing on intellectual property law. Between 2012 and 2019, Claire was head of European and international affairs at French online gaming regulator ARJEL. She was actively involved in negotiations with the European Commission and the Council of Europe (e.g.: Macolin Convention). She was elected to the presidency of the Gambling Regulators European Forum (GREF), and appointed chair of the European Technical Committee for Standardisation on Online Gambling (CEN/TC 456). In 2019 and 2020, Claire was based in Barcelona to oversee regulatory compliance and anti-money laundering for an operator licensed in the United Kingdom, Sweden and Malta. After more than three years in the regulatory affairs department of a Paris law firm, Claire now personally assists her French and foreign clients with their public affairs and regulatory strategies. Claire is convinced that regulation is a necessity that must be balanced with economic reality, and employs a strategic forward-thinking approach, strong creative legal skills and an analytical, structured way of working. Claire works in French and English. She is a member of the Board of Directors of A-CAP, the French association of public affairs lawyers.
