Birgitte Sand
Birgitte is a Senior Executive with 25+ years of experience from leadership covering in-depth restructuring of all or large parts of a ministry of 8000 employees, implementation of numerous comprehensive law complexes, massive digital transformation of work processes including groundbreaking technological solutions towards companies and citizens. Improving efficiency using less resources without lowering quality and managing significant changes of corporate culture and radical shifts in customer service has also been key elements in the governance of the tax group. A comprehensive transition took the group from controls and sanctions to service and information. Participating in a wide range of top-level decisions mirroring the demands of the actual owners – citizens and businesses – expressed by their political representatives, has provided Birgitte with an exquisite experience in inspiring, formulating and transforming far-reaching visions to sustainable strategies and tangible results for the benefit of public sector funding in Denmark. Based on strong holistic competences, Birgitte has built, rebuilt or optimized business areas to the satisfaction of many different stakeholders including very diverse circles of managers and employees. Birgitte comes with international experiences from tireless international cooperation and sharing of knowledge and thus supporting a competitive and updated Danish legislation and regulation. From 2008 to 2020 Birgitte served as Director of the Danish Gambling Authority responsible for the successful construction and consolidation of a liberalized gambling licensing regime covering betting, online casino, land-based casinos, lotteries and gaming machines. Birgitte is Past Vice President and President of the International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR) and has been awarded “European Regulator of the Year” by the International Masters of Gaming Law (IMGL). Birgitte is a frequent speaker or moderator at international gambling events/conferences. International cooperation is very close to the heart of BS, as well as creating a strong dialogue-based relationship between regulators and the gambling industry.
