2022 is set to be a big year for gaming, and this is true for all aspects of the industry, from slots and interactive casino games at places like Caesars casino Michigan to video games on home consoles and more.

But what about the eSports industry? We’ve seen some huge new eSports in the past few years—what should we expect in 2022 and beyond?

Roller Champions

Roller Champions is out to take Rocket League’s crown. It is a 3v3 game that has been described as a futuristic roller derby and is set for release sometime in 2022. It looks every bit as fast, chaotic, and fun as Rocket League, and Ubisoft, the game’s developer, is already planning big things for the eSport market.

Ubisoft has announced plans to sponsor tournaments, although when/where these will be and how big they will be is not yet known.

Like all good eSports, Roller Champions will be completely free to play and available across a multitude of platforms, including Xbox One and Switch. Everything will take place in third-person and will task players with competing in an original sport.

Initially, the game was slated for release in 2021 but has since been pushed back.

Overwatch 2

Overwatch is one of the biggest eSports in North America, but it hasn’t done as well as many people expected. It was close but wasn’t quite close enough to take the FPS crown.

Overwatch 2 could change that. It is set to take everything that made the first game popular and launch it for a new and more discerning eSports audience.

It remains to be seen how the game will look and play, but with Blizzard Entertainment behind it and an existing fanbase awaiting every new development, it should be huge following its release. Whether it can hold onto that success or not is a different matter. Ultimately, that’s one of the biggest challenges that eSport titles face.

Call of Duty Warzone

COD Warzone is already out, but its initial release was met with a lukewarm reception. Over the past few months, the game’s best players have spent more time complaining about it than praising it, and when you consider its many problems with cheaters, it’s easy to see why.

But a lot has changed since then and the game is improving all of the time. Not only are the cheaters being dealt with, but Warzone is getting lots of new content. Its player base is increasing all of the time and while it probably won’t topple games like Valorant or CS:GO, it will carve out its own niche.

As proven by CS:GO, this sector is not always bossed by new games and if Warzone can keep growing, improving, and giving players what they want, it will eventually get to where it needs to go.

As you can see, there are some exciting eSports games upcoming in 2022, and that’s just the start. The gaming industry took a hit in 2020 and 2021 and it was harder for developers to create games, but things are getting back to normal now and everyone is playing catch up.
