Veikkaus conducted change negotiations in October–November 2025 concerning 75 employees in three different functions. The negotiations and related discussions have now been concluded.
The changes are driven by Veikkaus’ preparations for the new gambling system that will take effect in 2027. At that time, the market in Finland will be partially opened.
In the future, gambling companies other than Veikkaus will also have the opportunity to apply for licences for, for example, sports betting and online casino games. Lotto, Eurojackpot and, for instance, physical slot machines will, however, remain under Veikkaus’ monopoly.
As a result of the negotiations, 26 existing roles were discontinued and 22 new positions were created. Essential changes were made to 20 employment relationships.
“Our strategic direction requires changes from us, which have now been implemented through these negotiations. These decisions are always difficult from a human perspective, but they are necessary for Veikkaus’ future competitiveness,” said EVP, People, Brand & Communications Reija Laaksonen.
