The Key of Dreams is a critically acclaimed overnight game-theatre experience, transporting guests to a Lovecraftian world where they become investigators into an eldritch history.
As members of the Friends of Miskatonic University, guests at The Key of Dreams are asked to help the owner of a 17th century manor house with recent strange events. Over the next 24 hours, they’ll uncover mysteries by digging through the archive, befriending strange characters, joining secret societies, decoding clues, solving puzzles, and performing rituals. By the time they leave, their decisions will have shaped the house forever…
The Key of Dreams blurs the line between gaming, immersive theatre, roleplaying, puzzles and boutique hospitality, drawing on computer games, board games, RPGs and escape rooms. Creating a thoughtful and curated experience, complete with an impressive candlelit dinner and guided by a cast of skilled performers, guests follow a narrative rich with intrigue and suspense as they seek out answers and bask in the strangeness of the manor.
The creative team were inspired by the mystery and horror of 19th and 20th century literature, and the stunning setting of the 17th Century Treowen Manor in Monmouthshire. Combining acclaimed game designers, theatrical professionals, and diverse disciplines, they draw together specialists who’ve worked everywhere from the Royal Opera House to the EMF festival to the Tower of London to Vodafone, creating a truly unique experience.
In addition to the gaming and theatrical elements, guests enjoy four lavish meals throughout the day. Designed by Dominic Zeal, Executive Chef, the menus champion seasonality and locally sourced Welsh ingredients while speaking to the narrative and mystery of the tale at hand.
Ivan Carić, Director of Lemon Difficult Studios says: “It took us a long time to try to provide points of reference for what we do it’s got some Secret Cinema style theatre, some Punchdrunk-style, escape rooms… but none of those are quite right. It’s something new that not only brings great food and drink and a wonderful location but also a crafted immersive experience that is finding fans from across the world.
