China, France to enhance global governance cooperation on artificial intelligence

 

China and France have committed to addressing the potential risks associated with artificial intelligence (AI) technology and enhancing global governance to ensure its development serves the common good.

During Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to France at the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron, the two leaders reached consensus on bilateral and multilateral cooperation to regulate AI effectively.

Recognizing AI’s pivotal role in development and innovation, China and France underscore the importance of promoting its development and security while acknowledging the challenges it may pose. A joint statement on AI and global governance issued by the two countries highlights the need for appropriate international governance to achieve this goal.
