Rait Kaarma

Rait Kaarma is a Partner and Attorney-at-Law at ProventusLaw Advokaadibüroo OÜ, with more than 20 years of experience advising fintech companies, technology businesses, listed companies, and international groups on corporate, tax, regulatory, and compliance matters.

His work focuses on the intersection of regulated digital business, financial technology, AML/KYC, crypto-assets, data protection, and cross-border market entry. He advises clients on licensing, governance, compliance frameworks, M&A, commercial contracts, regulatory risk, and disputes, with particular experience in projects where legal, technological, and operational considerations must work together in practice.

He has acted as lead counsel to a major crowdfunding platform during its early growth phase, providing on-site legal and compliance support and helping to design AML/KYC and regulatory frameworks. His professional background also includes hands-on experience with LegalTech, RegTech, SaaS-based legal solutions, knowledge management, and compliance systems, making him a practical adviser to founders, operators, and investors building in highly regulated markets.

In addition to his fintech and regulatory work, Rait advises on intellectual property, IT law, multimedia law, and sports law. He has lectured at the University of Tartu on the legal aspects of businesses based on intellectual property and has also been involved in international tax and VAT-related advisory work.

Rait is a member of the Estonian Bar Association, the International Fiscal Association, and the Fundamental Rights Committee of the Estonian Bar Association.
