Chantal Cipriano
I am the Vice President of Legal, Compliance & People with PointsBet Canada. PointsBet is one of the fastest growing sports betting operators in the US and Australia. Its proprietary platform and commitment to an in-house approach powers unrivalled innovation and competitive advantages like market-leading speed and ease of use across every customer touchpoint, unique product features, exclusive bet types, local personalization, and much more. Previously, I was the Senior Director of Legal & Compliance with Mazooma, a fintech company that provides real-time, bank account level data intelligence and bank-verified payment processing for licensed online gaming and sports betting operators in regulated U.S. markets. I also spent a significant chunk of my career as a lawyer in private practice, providing strategic legal advice to clients involved in the land based and online gambling industries. My practice primarily focused on advising of the requirements related to licensing, compliance and governance, and risk mitigation. I am a published author of the Canada chapter for LexisNexis’ Gaming Law and Practice Book, Chambers and Partners’ Gaming, Gambling and Licensing Practice Guide for Canada, and various articles in gaming publications. I am also an adjunct professor with the University of New Hampshire, teaching its Canada chapter of the Global Regulation of Sports Betting Course under its Sports Wagering and Integrity Certificate Program, and an advisory board member to Gaming Americas. In addition, I act as Special Gaming Counsel to Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP. I speak at various conferences worldwide and have provided commentary to media outlets such as the Globe and Mail and the National Post, on the legalization of single-event sports betting in Canada.
