Cequence & Singularity Tech forge API security partnership

Cequence and Singularity Tech have unveiled a new collaboration aimed at bolstering API security and compliance solutions within the Australian and New Zealand markets.

The partnership seeks to equip organizations with a robust solution to address challenges associated with API sprawl and regulatory compliance, particularly crucial in heavily regulated sectors like critical infrastructure, which experienced a 50% surge in cybersecurity incidents in 2023 according to the Australian Signals Directorate.

Glen Maloney, Cequence’s ANZ Country Lead, emphasized the significance of the partnership: “Cequence is dedicated to empowering organizations with cutting-edge API security solutions, and our alliance with Singularity perfectly aligns with this mission. This collaboration is especially vital for the Australian market, where stringent compliance requirements and a defined critical infrastructure landscape necessitate a targeted approach.”

Together, Cequence and Singularity will harness Singularity’s expertise and Cequence’s Unified API Protection (UAP) platform to assist clients in managing their APIs across the entire lifecycle. This lifecycle encompasses six key stages: discovery, inventory, compliance, detection, prevention, and testing.

The discovery stage involves continuous evaluation of an organization’s API attack surface, identifying any unknown or shadow APIs that may lack proper security oversight. The inventory stage consolidates all identified endpoints, offering a unified view of the organization’s APIs to security teams and analysts.

During the compliance stage, the focus is on ensuring all APIs adhere to the organization’s security policies, industry standards, and regulatory obligations. Detection capabilities aim to identify real-time threats targeting APIs without additional instrumentation, while prevention provides immediate inline measures to thwart API attacks. The testing phase evaluates APIs for potential risks before they are deployed in production environments.

Cequence’s UAP platform delivers a comprehensive approach to API security, covering both external and internal APIs. It ensures compliance with security and governance standards while offering native, real-time protection against API attacks.

Nick Blyth, Managing Director at Singularity Tech, highlighted the collaboration’s significance: “Our partnership with Cequence addresses a critical gap in the API security landscape. Often, security and delivery teams operate in silos. By combining Singularity’s expertise in technology implementation with Cequence’s leading API security solutions, we provide a unified approach that empowers clients to effectively navigate the complexities of API security, cybersecurity, and compliance.”

The alliance aims to significantly enhance cybersecurity measures for organizations operating in regulated environments or sectors handling sensitive data and infrastructure. It underscores the growing importance of comprehensive API management, particularly in an era marked by accelerated digital transformation across various industries.
